Biography

Achmad Fedyani Saifuddin, who was born in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, June 27 1952. He is a Lecturer in the Department of Anthropology , University of Indonesia. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree at the University of Indonesia in Anthropology in 1981, then a Master of Arts (MA) in 1985 and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in 1992 from the University of Pittsburgh, USA.

In his academic journey, he followed some additional education abroad, such as brief courses of Intensive English in the language department at Oregon State University, USA in June-July 1984, Short Course Curriculum Development of Higher Education at the University of Manitoba, Canada, in April- in May 1993, then the last one he attended a short course of the study of Literature and Discussion Nutrition Consultative Anthropology in the Department of Anthropology of the University of Manitoba in May-June 1993.

he pursue the field of Urban Poverty (especially Indonesia and Southeast Asia), Religion and Culture (in particular Conflicts and Integration Followers of Religion), another field that he pursue is kinship and social organization, studies on social networks, communities and American culture and then medical anthropology and anthropological methodology.
